Here is my casual / vacation / weekend wear wishlist for this year. I think all of these are effortless, comfortable pieces that will help me get dressed without too much of ‘What should I wear??’ on the weekends and vacations.
As and when I buy one of these items, I will update the details. If I no longer want to buy anything on this list, I will strike it off with updates.
#1 White Boyfriend Jeans: Ever so slightly ripped, slim fit, petite-friendly white boyfriend jeans!! I have a strong feeling I will have to search all year to find these. I loooovvveee my blue denim boyfriend jeans (Lucky Brand) and am keen on adding one more in white. Looks like this is going to be the year of high-waisted, flare denims and the boyfriend fit will be out. But, flared jeans are definitely not me. As much as I want to try a different denim style, I cannot help but like the boyfriend style. They are forgiving and versatile. You can dress them up with high heels and a silk blouse, dress them down with sneakers and tshirts. They are perfect for travel, going around the city, and running errands. I could write a love song to boyfriend jeans!! Here are some of my ‘inspiration’ pictures for white boyfriend jeans.
#2 Red Striped Comme Des Garcon Play Tshirt: I’ve wanted a CDG Play Tshirt for soo long. The length is petite friendly, and the quality of the cotton is great. It has a nice weight to it. Just that I am having a hard time justifying the price for a tshirt, and shying away from hitting ‘Add to Cart’.
#3 St James Galathee Tshirt: Another striped T! But hey, we all need multiples of a good product in case they all suddenly go out of stock!! 🙂 Looks like this is the year that I embrace the cliched ‘french uniform’! In all honesty, I might just add only one of the two striped Ts listed here. I’d be happy to review each of them in a different post, if and when I get around to buying them.
Update: I got a blue CDG Play Tshirt. I don’t plan on adding the St James Tshirt anymore. The CDG one works well for me and is so easy to pair with different styles of jeans and works well for most occasions – errands, visiting friends, weekends, casual outings.
#4 Burgundy shoes: I’ve wanted a pair of burgundy shoes to match this beautiful maroon Longchamp Honore crossbody bag that I bought last year. I know it is outdated to match your shoes and bag, but I’m just old school like that. It just makes me feel more ‘put together’ without trying too hard, when I match my shoes to my bag. Sadly all burgundy shoes that come in my size (EU 34!!) are really pricey.
#5 New Balance Gold & White shoes: I am desperately waiting for J.Crew to re-stock these in 4.5! Please J.Crew, if you are reading this, bring these back in my size!
#6 Tan Wrap sandals: Wrap sandals have been all over the 2016 spring summer collections on the runway shows. I also have been looking for a low heel block sandal for quite some time now. I prefer low heels than flats. Given my 5’2” frame, even a small heel can make a huge difference and add some much needed height. These caught my eye, but these looked more fun, combining both the wrap sandal and block heel, plus they are almost a good $75 cheaper than the Via Spiga block heels! Also, tan/camel color goes with most of my weekend clothes (whites and blues).
Update: I pre-ordered them on RevolveClothing. I’ll review them as soon as they arrive. Actually, the Senso ones are pretty much a affordable version of the Janis Low Suede Sandals by Gianvito Rossi. The high heel inch version can be found here, and the affordable twin is here. Update: As of 2017, I wasn’t using these sandals as much as I’d like. I sold them on the pre-owned market.
#7 Summer dress (Any color): This Carolina K dress took my breath away when I first saw it on the Shopbop site! Breathable cotton? – check! Interesting back detail? – check! Feminine but not too girly – I fell in love! But keeping in line with my 24 items for 2016 rule, I am mulling over it. It is only February now and there will more summer dress options, come April.
#8 White midi summer dress: Keeping in line with theme that the ‘midi dress’ is my new best friend for this year, I have been looking high and low for a white midi dress. A white midi dress that doesn’t make me look like I am going to the church to get married or to a cruise party where the dress-code is ‘A lot of body con with copious cut-outs’ . This Ulla Johnson one caught my eye. I am waiting to see if any more white midi dresses come up on my radar in the next two months before I hit ‘Buy’.
Update: I did not buy any of these dresses. Reviewing my closet, I could see that I had too many dresses already. So, I decided not to add more.
#9 Céline Box bag / YSL Université bag: Okaaayyyy, I am not sure if I’ll ever get around to buying either of these bags this year. I think the Celine Box bag is divine!! I have been lusting over it for so long. I love the metal to leather ratio of this bag. No unnecessary zippers, no embelishments, tassels, NO LOGO, yet so recognizable. I looovvve the gold push button! Obviously at $3900, it is totally out of my budget. The YSL is a more moderately priced (yet, still expensive) option that has come up in the end of 2015. It keeps in line with the same aesthetic, less embellishments, just the right amount of gold hardware. Although it is not as subtle as the Celine, it is right up there! I am fine with adding a deep navy or a tan/brown/ camel in either of the bags. Now, let us see where I can find some cold cash to buy one of them.
#10 New workout shoes: This should have been at the top of my list. I am in need of a pair of a workout/ running shoes so that I get my ‘running groove’ back. I am leaning towards Nike Airmax as usual. But the Adidas Supernova Glide are a serious contender too!
2017 Update: I am glad to have bought only 2 out of the 10 things on my weekend wishlist for 2016.
